Year 11s will benefit from our Chemistry Boosters – a focused series of sessions tailored to enhance understanding and confidence in preparation for the upcoming exams. Each session hones in on a specific area of chemistry, enabling students to consolidate their knowledge and tackle challenging topics with clarity and precision.

The Chemistry Boosters will cover:

1) Principles of Chemistry: Covering key concepts and ideas at the heart of the science, improving the understanding the language of chemistry, helping with the rest of the syllabus.

  • Day 1: States of matter elements, mixtures & compound, atomic structure, and different types of bonding
  • Day 2: Periodic table, chemical formulae, equations & calculations and electrolysis
2) Physical Chemistry: Refining skills in thermodynamics, kinetics, and equilibria to solve quantitative and conceptual problems with accuracy.
  • Day 3: Energetics, Rates of reaction and Equilibrium
3) Inorganic Chemistry: Strengthening grasp on periodic trends, bonding theories, and the behavior of elements and compounds.
  • Day 4: Reactivity series, extraction and uses of metals, acids, alkalis and titrations, acids, bases and salt preparations.
  • Day 5: Group 1,  Group 7, gases in the atmosphere and chemical tests
4) Organic Chemistry: Mastering nomenclature, functional groups, and practical based questions to deepen comprehension of this key area.
  • Day 6: Crude oil, alkanes, alkenes
  • Day 7: Alcohols, carboxylic acids, esters and synthetic polymers
Each session combines theoretical explanation, problem-solving techniques, and practice questions to ensure students are fully equipped to excel.
